The works presented in the bi-personal exhibition: Domestic Apocalypse are the result of an investigation into light, or rather, the absence of it.
One of the cons of living in Germany is that there is no sunlight for much of the year, which meant a great difficulty when wanting to paint still lifes live.
Given that, the only solution that occurred to me was to make a model of my house with furniture and objects and with artificial light to try to replicate what sunlight would be like on things.
This is a project in progress and the paintings on display show this progression that starts with still lifes with natural light in summer/autumn and ends with paintings made during winter, clearly based on models.
