Husares Tragicos

Collective Exhibition
Museo de Arte Contemporáneo MAC

2018

The Tragic Hussars is a novel published in 1965, by Jorge Inostroza.
In several volumes, the text portrays the life of two of the most iconic figures in the founding history of Chile: Manuel Rodríguez and José Miguel Carrera.
This exhibition takes place precisely in the latter’s house, the Casas de los Carrera Historical Monument in El Monte.
17 artists were summoned to intervene in the construction with various works, to question the conditions and accounts of history and its implications, within its very materiality. Paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations and videos put the arguments and foundations of what is traditionally known as a monument into crisis, experiencing it from everyday life and reconfiguring identity and its politics.

In this exhibition I exhibited a diptych where supermodel Naomi Campbell is represented pointing a gun at the viewer.
